“Mountain Moonrise” — Hand‑Painted Silk Wall Hanging
This hand‑painted silk artwork captures the quiet beauty of the moon rising over a mountain landscape. Soft reflections of lingering sunset color glow in the eastern sky, often rivaling the sunset itself, while a touch of moonlight sparkles across the water. The scene holds that peaceful moment when day gives way to night.
Created on 100% silk habotai with permanent textile dyes, the artwork measures 14 x 22 inches. It can be framed in grey, wood, or black, and like all silk pieces, it is best displayed out of direct sunlight to preserve color over time.
Artist Carol Sullivan’s work is shaped by a lifetime spent around boats, coastal travel, and the shifting moods of nature, which she interprets through sea, sky, flora, and fauna. Her silk‑dye process ranges from loose and impressionistic to controlled and detailed, with constant experimentation keeping her work fresh and evolving. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, she has developed unique textile techniques—including gyotaku fish printing—and her fabric art has been featured in galleries in Maryland, Maine, and the Bahamas with an international following.
