“Summer Morning” — Painting on Silk
This small abstract landscape captures the warmth and anticipation of a hot summer morning in the mountains—the kind of day everyone waits for all year. Soft shifts of color suggest rising light and quiet air, giving the piece a gentle, uplifting presence.
Painted with dye on silk, the artwork is framed in a brushed silver metal frame and arrives ready to hang. Finished dimensions are 8 x 6 inches. As with all silk artwork, it is best displayed out of direct sunlight to preserve color over time.
Artist Carol Sullivan’s work is shaped by a lifetime spent around boats, coastal travel, and the shifting moods of nature, which she interprets through sea, sky, flora, and fauna. Her silk‑dye process ranges from loose and impressionistic to controlled and detailed, with constant experimentation keeping her work fresh and evolving. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, she has developed unique textile techniques—including gyotaku fish printing—and her fabric art has been featured in galleries in Maryland, Maine, and the Bahamas with an international following.
